THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE TRAIL

Photos Joe Armijo

Let the journey on top of the Continental Divide
 be a monumental occasion.
Start the climb to the top from Hildreth Creek.

When at the top look to the west into Idaho.
And chances are you can see many
head of Elk
on the mountain in the background.

Then look back to the east at the valley floor upon
the Hildreth Ranch where the journey began,
with Ellis Peak, Graphite Mountain and
Sourdough Peak in the back ground.

Looking to the South there will be a trail that will guide
anyone wishing to travel the Continental Divide and
both states of Montana and Idaho at the same time.

Not only can you see elk to the West but also when
traveling south right near where the trail is.
If the Elk are not enough, look at the Continental Divide
Survey stakes along the way. 65 elk were seen that day.

When traveling south to Morrison Lake the outline
of most of the CD trail can be made.
The 9595 feet elevation Bear Mountain is middle.
